COLOMBIA: Colcap Boosted By Investor Confidence, Santos Says
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said that the recent increase in shares traded on the local stock exchange was a result of greater confidence in the country and support of investors for the good performance and prospects of the economy.
“The shares traded on the Colombian Stock Exchange have risen to their highest level in three years, which shows confidence in the country's companies and our economy,” said the president.
The Colcap has gone up 11.5% so far in 2017 and last week increased by 1.3%, surpassing the 1,500-point barrier.
The index is a benchmark for investors' trust, in which Colombia has stood out in the Latin American context, Santos said in a statement.
