U.S. president Donald Trump has courted several democratic senators to find a way forward for a planned tax reform in the autumn.
It reports Bloomberg News.
Donald Trump met on Tuesday, Joe Manchin, Heidi Heitkamp and Joe Donnelly, the three democratic senators who have not signed a list of conditions for supporting new tax law. This list include that it does not lead to increased deficits, not to increase the burden on the middle class and that it should be treated according to the usual rules in congress.
Donald Trump appears at the same time aim at states where he won last year but where a democratic senator is up for re-election in next year’s elections.
United states:the secretary of the treasury Steven Mnuchin expressed on Tuesday, doubts about the goal to be able to lower the corporate tax rate to 15 per cent, in spite of efforts to speed up the process.
”Ideally, I’d like to get it down to 15 per cent. I don’t know if we can reach it given the budget issue, but we will get it down to a very competitive level,” he said to CNBC.
According to the Washington Post keeps administration to try to find a framework that can unify the republicans in congress and that can be presented in the next week. The big stumbling block remains how the tax cuts should be paid.
